Future is not a Prerequisite

Through spiritual practices God Realization can take place – now even if this point is also true, and on believing so if an aspirant pursues the spiritual path, then there will be much delay in God Realization. If an aspirant has the feeling that I will attain God right now, then he will attain God now, at this very moment. God will not see that what type of a devotee he is or he is not. Whether it is a thorny bush, grass, fields, mountains, desert, or ocean, rain falls on all equally. The rain does not see whether there is need for water and where there isn't a need. In the same way, God by showering His grace, does not see whether he is a sinner or a virtuous man? Whether he is good or bad? He showers everywhere, in other words, He manifests Himself.

Even the worst of worst sinners can attain God (Gita 9/30). Butchers and bandits have also attained God! God is present everywhere and at all times, the only requirement is ones feelings and sentiments. Even though this point is valid, when one thinks that the inner-senses are impure, therefore such sentiments do not arise, actually speaking such thinking is an obstacle for aspirants. There is great glory of being a chaste wife (pativrata stri) in the scriptures, saying that even God comes under the command of such a one. If someone says that I cannot have the feelings of a chaste wife, then this is her mistake. Even the worst of worst sinner's wives have been chaste, and even the best of best men's wives have also been chaste. Sitaji, the wife of Lord Shri Ram, was also chaste and the wife of the king of demons Ravana, was also chaste. It is not that Shri Ram's wife can be chaste and not Ravana's. It was due to following the path of a righteous and being a chaste wife, that Mandodari came to know the true essence of Lord Ram, but Ravana did not know this (Manas, Lanka 15-16).

In the present age of Kali, God can be realized easily; because now his customers are very few. When customers are few, the goods can be available for a much cheaper price; because the seller has a great need. Therefore one should not have the feeling that in the midst of this grave Kaliyug (age of Kali), how can God be realized so easily?

We must have a firm conviction that whatever joy or sorrow, favorable or unfavorable comes our way, we want to attain God, no matter what. If we first become immersed in purifying our inner-senses, then there will be much delay in God Realization. Instead of depending on our effort, let us rely on infinite and limitless power of God's grace, which can very quickly purify us. Even if a child has rolled himself in dirt, and if he jumps into his mother's lap, then the mother herself cleans him. (to be continued)
