Why does the Jeev (Embodied Soul) Return?

||  Shree Hari   ||
(Jeev Loutkar kyon aata hai?)

continued....
 That friend sat on the throne and that day began to relish the exotic foods and drinks,  and became immersed in grandeur  and relaxation.    The next day he indulged in board games and gambling etc.   When night fell he said he would go to the palace.    All were troubled, as the queen was a very chaste lady.  The friend had become stubborn,  thinking that everything belongs to him,  he is the king, therefore the queen too belongs to him.   The queen was in a dilemma,  so she consulted with her family counsellor, a Brahmin,  as to what she should do?   The Guru Maharaj told her -  "Child,  do not worry.  I will take care of everything."  The Guru Maharaj said to the king's friend,  who was entrusted the kingdom for three days,  that if you wish to go to the palace, you will need to go as a king, therefore you will need to be dressed and adorned like a king.    He called the king's men and commanded them that prepare to go to the palace with the necessary adornments.    He called the barber,  to do the shaving and grooming.   3-4 hours went by, then the friend said,  why are you all taking so long and delaying so much?  The barber said,  it is the procedure for kingly men.   It cannot be like that of any ordinary person.   The barber took too much time.  Thereafter came the dresser,  who too took an enormous amount of time to dress the friend.  Thereafter came the make-up man with all his scents and perfumes and he too took a very long time.   In this manner,  in adorning and getting ready, the entire night went by and it was early morning.   It was the last and final day.   The time was up and the throne and kingdom had to be turned back over to the king.    The king then called his second friend,  and insisted on him ruling for three days, but clarified that me, my wife and my home,  belong to me only.  I am your subject too,  but the rest of the kingdom is yours.   The second friend was now the king for three days.

The moment he was given the post,  he asked,  to what extent was his authority and rights?    The minister said -  " Maharaj !  the entire army, the treasury, and all subjects in this land are all in your kingdom and under your control."    The second friend called 10-20 authorities and asked them that in this kingdom,  where are most of the shortages felt, who is undergoing difficulties and troubles?   He said to investigate and let him know immediately.   The key men, returned with information that a particular village has shortage of water, there is no well,  there is no traveler's resting place,  there is no school.  The temporary king,  commanded that all these shortages should be fulfilled within three days and to get the money immediately for all these things from the treasury.     On completion of the three days, the message came back from the various places that all this work is completed and some remains.  The second friend, instructed to complete as soon as possible and then the time was up to return the kingdom back to the king.   The king was very pleased with him and told him that I will not let you go away.  I will make you my minister.   I have not taken care of my subjects the way you have in the last three days.   The king became a name sake king, whereas the minister (his second friend) become a trusted minister for life.

In the same way,  we too have received three states,  childhood, youth and old age  -  like that we are received the opportunity to serve the Lord's kingdom for three days.    Now those who are busy hoarding, accumulating wealth and indulging in sense pleasures, they are getting the grooming like the first friend,  and those who are serving like the second friend,  to them, the Lord says –

Mein toh ho bhagatan ko das,  bhagat mere mukut mani ||
I am the servant of my devotees,  and my devotees are the jewel in my crown.
Therefore brothers,  whatever wealth, possessions, glories etc. that we have,  use it to provide for others and serve them all.    This kingdom has been received for three days.   Now the decision that we have to make is that do we want to get lost in the shaving, make-up and adornment, or become eligible to be the trusted friend of the Lord.    Lakshmiji is our mother,  and the Lord is our father.   Take from mother Lakshmi for the sustenance of this life; but you instead want to enjoy and take pleasures from Lakshmiji, you want to make her your woman.  This is a sin.   She is our most loving mother.  If the attitude is one of serving, then mother will be much pleased and father will also be pleased.   Then there will be no need to return back to this world.   We will eternally reside in our father's abode.    We are from the abode of the Lord, why would we come here?  This is not our abode at all.   This is the abode for beings.    Our abode is the abode of our Lord.    We are from that same place.   Kabir sahib says -

Mein poorabiyo poorab desh ro,  mhaari boli lakhai na koi |
Mhaari boli jo lakhai,  ghar poorabalo hoi ||

I am from the northern country,  no one understands my language over here.   Here all the people are from the southern country.   Only those who are from the northern country,  understand my language.

Only God is mine, and I am only God's.  Now all the things are God's.  nothing is mine.   He who understands this point properly, they do not need to come back here after death;  but he who has affection for the world,  he has to return here after death.
