The Transcendental Extraordinariness of  Devotion
(Bhakti ki Alaukik Vilakshantaa)

(continued)
This body is also not mine, and this mind-intellect-life-breath is also not mine.   And the thinking-meditation-deep trance that takes place through them is also not mine -  thus  accepting the gross, subtle and causal body as not mine, man becomes free from dependence (liberated).  His bondage (dependency, paraadheentaah) is altogether wiped out.  On becoming free from dependence, liberated (swadheen), man becomes entitled to God's divine love.   He who is bound, he does not love, rather he has attachment.   Love and its attainment is not through "par" (something that is belonging to another),  rather it is through renouncing the "par" and through "one's own" (swakeeya).  However, by God's grace, attainment of love is possible before freedom from dependency (liberation).   When a devotee endowed with deep faith, only accepts God as his very own, then he develops love for God.  Because attainment of love is not from one's own strength, austerities, abilities etc.,  rather it is from accepting God as our very own.    That which is attained through strength, austerities, abilities etc., will be of lesser value then strength, austerities etc.     If God is attained with any spiritual practice, then that Got is smaller than the spiritual practice.  Therefore without accepting God as mine, there cannot be any other means of attaining Love.   God only sees towards a devotee's feeling of mine-ness (apnepan),  he does not see towards whether the devotee is bound or free.  Just as a child calls out to his mother, then the mother does not look towards the child's abilities, strength, education and knowledge etc. , rather she sees towards that feeling of mine and takes him into her lap.  In the same way, when a devotee being dissatisfied by his state,  calls out to the Lord,  then God bestows His Love.  The purport is that by not regarding the body and this world as our,  spiritual disciplines pertaining to the world are accomplished and by accepting God as our very own,  transcendental spiritual discipline is accomplished.
He who desires liberation, and he who regards liberations as best of all,  for such an aspirant, attainment of love (devotion) is far-fetched, for he cannot even understand talks about love!   Just as a selfish man's sight never goes towards the good of the other person,  similarly,  men engaged in spiritual disciplines of this world, their sight never goes towards the transcendental love of God.  They are incapable of comprehending the essence of love.   Only he can understand talks about love,  who has past impressions "sanskaars" of devotion, who have determinate faith in God,  who depend on God's grace and who does not condemn devotion, devotee and God, such an aspirant if he is liberated, then he will not be satisfied with it.  Therefore God out of His divine grace,  makes the relish of his everlasting freedom appear dry and bestows him with uninterrupted and every increasing relish.   If from the very beginning he has determinate faith in God and accepted God as his very own (apnapan), then God out of His mercy and grace, will bestow him with both,  liberation (mukti) and loving devotion (bhakti, prem).
