Glories of a Saint

There is immense glories of saints in the holy text.   Even God Himself has sung the glories of His devotees.   Saint or a devotee is not the name of a particular way of dressing or adorning.  It could be any one,  a Brahmin,  Kshatriya,  Vaishya,  Shudra,  mother-sister or anyone for that matter who could have the sentiments of a saint.

Saints say, that our sight goes towards those ascetics in Ashrams;   because there have been many enlightened, saints, and great souls with immense knowledge,  there have been many loving devotees of God that have come from the ascetic way of life.  But saints are not any less in the householder way of life.  Even among sisters,  there have been great saints like Meerabai,   such great saints, that even on contemplating on them,  the inner senses (antahkaran)  are purified.   Even in householder life there have been some exceptional saints.    Not only that,  even among the most ordinary,  most sinful,  among the most foolish and idiots there have been those who have realized the Truth and become saints and great souls (Mahatmas).

In this world there cannot be two people who are identical in their wealth,  possessions,  property etc.,   but in realizing the Truth,  all are equal.   The Truth that Vashishth,  Narad,  Sanakadik realized,  that very same Truth can be realized today itself;   because that Truth,  that Essence is one only.  On attaining that,  all are One.  Yes,  there can be differences in the spiritual practices ‒

पहुँचे-पहुँचे एक मत, अण पहुँचे मत और ।
सन्तदास घड़ी अरठकी, ढुरै एक ही ठौर ॥

Barrels or pots of a water-wheel,  are able to draw water from the well but they undergo different states,  sometimes up,  sometimes down;  but the water falls in one place.   In the same way,  all the various differences in the spiritual practices,   are all of those individuals who have not realized the Truth.   There is no difference in the natural state of those great enlightened souls.  Due to the differences in the spiritual practices (saadhan),  the paths are also different;  but on reaching the goal,  all attain the same Truth,  the Essence (Tattva).

Gita reveals two  adherences -  Jnanayog (Path of Knowledge) and Karmayog (Path of Selfless Action) ‒

ज्ञानयोगेन साङ्ख्यानाम् कर्मयोगेन योगिनाम् ।
                                                   (३ । ३)

In the Srimad Bhagwat,  for the Salvation of Mankind,  it is said ‒

‘योगास्त्रयो मया प्रोक्ता नृणां श्रेयो विधित्सया ।’
‘Those who desire their salvation, for them,  I have shared the three paths of yoga -  Jnanayog, Karmayog and Bhaktiyog* Besides these three, there is no other path to salvation.’

In the same way,  there is all is one (Advaita), everything is variant or dual (Dvaita), qualified unity (VishishTaadvaita), some absolute unity (Shiddhaadvaita), universe is sometimes diverse and sometimes integral (Dvaitaadvaita), universe is dual and non-dual beyond one's imagination (Achintya Bhedaabheda)  etc.   Various different paths are revealed in the scriptures.   These differences are from the perspective of the spiritual practice.   But on realizing the Truth,  God,  the goal  (saadhya),  no differences remain.   There are very few who have realized God,  the Truth,   and are able to deliberate from the perspective of a particular path.  I don’t know if there are any saints that are present at this time,  God only knows.    Even on searching and searching,  such great souls,  such Mahatmas are very few to be seen.   Those who are in fact realized soul, they have no insistence on a particular school of thought,  or a sect.   Those saints who have known it all, understood it,  unraveled it all,  are very few to be seen.

I Want to Only Walk This Path

I have received many amazing and extra-ordinary insights from the Bhagavad Gita, from the scriptures and from saints. I am sharing one of these insights with you today. All of you have mercy on me and pay close attention ! It is a very simple point, whereby one can make progress very quickly in their spiritual pursuits. One can can receive immense joy. All sorrow can be wiped out, once and for all. But for whom are these simple insights ? It is for those who desire their own spiritual benefit and growth. The greater the feeling, the intensity within - "Let me attain salvation," for him this point will be that much easier.

One method is that we continue to do various spiritual practices step by step, and as we do, we continue to reach higher and higher states, and then we will realize that essential Truth (Knowledge of Self). Another method is such that we can be at the higher state from the very beginning, and it will not take so long. You wont have to put in so much effort, but the benefits will be immediate and extraordinary.

On this subject God has said - A firmly rooted intellect with only one aim is of one type, while the intellect of an unsettled man is all over the place and dispersed (Gita 2:41). Gita also says - "Even the worst of worst sinners, if they worship me exclusively, then he should be considered an ascetic, because his aim and determination is good. (Gita 9:30). In this verse (Gita 9:30) it is also said "samyagvyavasitohi saha"means that "Now I want to only walk this path" whereby one makes this firm commitment and determination. Whether people complain, whether they criticize, whether wealth comes or goes, whether this body remains healthy or not, whether we live or we die, but I will remain firm on this aim. In this same way, in the "I-ness" if there is the inner expression that "I am only a seeker of divinity and truth" then spiritual practices will happen on their own.

Let us accept our relationship with divinity and truth (God, Supreme Consciousness) from the very beginning - "I belong to God and God is mine". You may have heard this point many times, and I have said this many times, as well, but you all do not pay attention. I pray to you all that pay great attention to this point. I want to attain salvation and it is only for that purpose that I have come here, only for that purpose have I been born here, there is no other work that I have - let there be this one affirmation, one verdict, one decision. This is called intellect that is exclusively engaged "vyavasaatmikaa buddhi".  With such a determination and exclusive aim, even the worst of worst sinners can attain saint hood very quickly "shipram bhavati  dharamaatmaa". (Gita 9:31).

Two Disciplines of Seeking

In a 'Jiva' (being)— there is an 'amsa' (element) of the Consciousness of God and an 'amsa' (element) of the inert nature (prakrti). By the dominance of the Conscious-part, he seeks God; and by the dominance of the inert part, he desires the world. Between these two, the yearning for God will be satisfied, but the desires of the world are never fulfilled. Some worldly desires seemingly fulfilled are in reality never satiated, rather, due to worldly attachment, ever new desires continue to arise. In fact, the fulfillment of worldly desires or attainment of worldly objects, is not within the authority of desire, but is subject to karma (action bearing fruit).

But, God-realization is not under the power of karma (act). God is attainable simply by intense longing of one's own self. Its reason is, that each karma (act), has a beginning and an end; so the result (fruit) too is bound to have a beginning and an end. Therefore, how can a beginningless and endless God, be realized by karmas (actions), which are origin and end bound? But seekers have often understood, that as the worldly objects are achieved by the predominance of activities, so also the realization of God is through the dominance of activity. As the assistance of body, senses, mind and intellect, has to be taken in achieving the objects of the world, so also in God-realization, the assistance of body, senses, mind, intellect will have to be called for, they argue. Therefore, such seekers practice spiritual discipline, erroneously with the help of their inert body etc., to realize God.

Just like in practicing the Yoga of Meditation for a long time, gradually fixing one's mind on God, when the 'citta' (mind) gets controlled, having no worldly attachment and itself being inert, and incapable of realizing God, it becomes unconcerned with the world. On the citta (mind) becoming unconcerned, the seeker becomes completely cut off from the mind or inertness, and he gains experience of Godhead automatically (Gita 6.20). But a seeker, who from the very beginning, having accepted his axiomatic and eternal unison with God, accepting no kinship in the least bit with inert matter, traverses the course of his discipline, he experiences the Supreme Tattva (essence) very quickly and with great ease.

How to Attain and Increase Love?

Question:  How to Attain and Increase Love?

Answer:  Now, how to attain love?  I will share with you what I have heard from saints.  If you desire God's love, then love all beings.  Let it be such that no being is in the least bit hurt because of you. Let all be at peace.  Let all attain salvation.  Let all be benefited.  Let all be happy.  Let all be relaxed. As long as you are selfish and wanting your wishes to come true, wanting to fulfill your own desires,  God's love does not manifest.  Whatever my mind wants, that should happen, this is "Desire".

When there is love for all beings then Bhagwaan's love is easily attainable.  Therefore love all.  Do what is beneficial to all.  "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah."  May all become free of disease; May all be joyful; May no one experience any pain and suffering.  That is the greatness of saints.  They only do what is beneficial to all.

To attain this love, love each other.  It is most important for householders.  There must be love for each other, for everyone living in the household .   To fight everyday, to create disharmony, is not a way to live.  Increase your love.   Start today, with all those living in the household.  Start with all those that are elder to you.  Do pranaam (namaste, namaskaar, homage, respectfully bow) to all those that are older.   Consider all elders to be your father.  Have the sentiments within that God will be happy.  I want to make God happy.  Anyone you meet during the day, do pranaam (respectfully bow) from within.

Pay attention to this.  Have mercy on me.  In all beings there is Bhagwaan (God) present.  If you are ashamed to do this outwardly, then do so from within.   If someone realizes that Bhagwaan resides within each and every being, then he will be unable to not do namaskar to them from within. Namaskaar is done with two feet, two knees, two hands, with heart, with speech (vachan), with two eyes, and with mind (mana).  Pay respect to all.

Always see to it that it is only with Bhagwaan's grace that I will be spiritually uplifted.  He has given us this human body, this satsang, this Gangaji, these scriptures, these associations, see to His grace in all of these.  We are entitled to Salvation.  Therefore start with namaskaar at your home… with Everyone !!!  Even do namaskaar to the young ones.   Day and night, do namaskaar.  All fights will end at home.   When you are forced to do namaskaar, all fights will have no place to go.  It is like saying -  no matter what, I am surrendering to you.   If you do namaskaar even once to Shri Krishna,  you will receive the fruit ten folds.  It is so easy! it is so cheap.  It is filled with nectar.

Who ever desires to attain God will understand that He resides in all.  All these bodies that you see whether in a temple or anywhere, they all have God present in them.  He who understands this, all the agitations of his mind will come to an end.   He will stop complaining about others. He will stop seeing faults in others.  He will stop being egoistical.  Therefore have mercy on me and try it out and see for your self.  Minimally, know that at least it is not going to harm you.  You do not have to spend any money.  You do not have to incur any bodily discomforts.  You can do the namaskaar from within… mentally only!  Teach children to do namaskaar to all.   All will be happy simply by observing this namaskaar, and will in turn start doing the same.   Do "Namaskaar"first thing in the morning and at dusk when the lights are turned on….  It will increase strength.  It will increase intelligence.  What an amazing Saadhan.  It is even said in the Gita.  "Namasyanti maam bhaktyaa…." Therefore start today… Give this one thing in charity today.  I am asking you for this.  Give it !  I rarely ask for anything.  It is not my nature to ask. I am asking today.  Give this charity.  Have mercy on me.  It is a householder's duty to give to a sadhu (sanyaansi).   Do this for twelve months and see.   Simply do so with your mind.  All fights will end.  It is one way of increasing LOVE.

Shree Hari

I only have one thing to say, which I keep repeating.  And inspite of my repeating, your enthusiasm does not reduce - and you still keep coming here and keep listening to me.   That one thing is that "Our goal is to attain salvation."   We are not to simply hear these words.  These words are nothing new.

God's home is our home.  It is our birth right to go to God's home. It is everyone's right. Like a child has his right on his mother. Similarly we have a right on God. You should catch hold of this fact that 'I am God's and never let it go. There is no doubt in this. There is no practice required for this. Even if you do not understand this or know this - believe it. It is true.

A child can be good or bad. A mother cannot be bad. She is always good. God is the best of the best, purest of the purest. Becoming God's, purifies us - like the Ganges, like fire, like the sun.

Accepting the world as yours is a mistake. The body and the world can never stay with us. They are always changing and leaving us.  But I (Self)  never changes. We can never change - even if we do not accept this fact. The body is flowing like the Ganges. But we are always staying. There is and can be no relation between what flows and what stays. 'I' (Self) stays - the body
and the world flow. If God dies, I die, else I can never die. I am the son of God, I can neither destroy, nor get destroyed. I stay and the body flows. How can I be the body? This world is not our home. God's home is our home. We are mere travelers here. Even if you cannot understand this, believe it, accept it. Then there is everlasting joy and happiness. There is no sign of sorrow.

Reading about God's past-times and His life, purifies us. Reciting the Ramcharitmanas purifies us. God is our Master. We are all His servants. No matter how big we get - we are still His servants. When we grow older, we feel guilty about doing anything wrong - what will people say.  But He purifies us. Once we become God's, we will naturally do only good things.

God is our Mother. No matter how we are - good, bad or evil, boy or girl - we are only God's. Brahma creates, Vishnu saves and Shiva destroys. Why do we have to worry about anything. One creates, one saves and one destroys. We have to do nothing. Everything is taken care off by God. There is very good division of labor between God. For us He has given us only happiness/joy. Our job is to remain happy and to be at peace.  Our job is to play - like a child.  No worries. All worries are in God's department, only joy is in our department. Why should we worry?

You get satsang by God's Grace. We have this opportunity by God's special grace.

Is it - "All is God" (Vasudeva Sarvam) or Is it Sorrow-filled World

Question: On one hand there is "All is God" (Vasudeva Sarvam) and on the other hand is the "World filled with Sorrow" (Dukhaalai). Which are we to understand ?

Answer: When we desires happiness from the World, then there is nothing but sorrow (dukhaalai). We will get nothing from the World, but sorrow. But when our intention is only to serve the World, then everything is God (Vasudeva Sarvam). When we have no selfish desires, and when the only feeling within is to serve others, then we will see only "All is God" (Vasudeva Sarvam).

There is another view. There is an outward perspective and an inner perspective. The inner perspective is only God (Vasudeva), whereas the outer view is the sorrow-filled world (dukhaalai). One who sees the outward form, beauty etc. is focused on the external view. Whereas one who is looking at the inner view, is seeing equanimity and sameness. Just like all gold jewelery appears different in shape and form, however inwardly, it is only gold. Similarly seeing the inner expression, looking at everything from it's very essence, one sees only God. Equanimity is God. When mind is established in equanimity, one gains victory over the world. "Panditaah samdarshinah."

Most people see the outward, but those who see the essence, see equanimity (samdarshinah), where everything is seen as God's Essence. Out attention is on the world, and therefore we see the world and it's sorrows, but from inside it is Consciousness. One who sees the 'tattva' essence, sees the essence of God in all.

All this does not mean that your behavior has to be the same to all. That is insane, rather it will lead to one's downfall if you treat a dog, the same as a human being. Relating in this world, is dependent on the external situations. Therefore the root of the matter is that, what we see is different depending on how we see the situation. If you are only seeing it outwardly, where you are looking at the perishable, then you will see sorrow. One is inward view, and the other is outward view; one is selfish view and the other is intent of serving.

In reality, there is only one essence. That essence is only God "Vasudeva". The outward is false and unreal as it is perishable. Those who pay attention to the perishable, see the world as filled with sorrow (dukhaalai). Whereas, those who see the Essence, see the essence of God.

MAINTAIN EQUANIMITY (SAMTAAH) IN ALL SITUATIONS
Bhagavad Gita says -

Raga dvesa vimuktais tu visayaan indiryais caran
Aatma vasyair vidheyaatmaa prasaadam adhigacchati (Gita 2:64)
Prasaade sarva dukhaanaam haanir asyopajaayate
Prasanna-cetaso hy aasu buddhih paryavatishthate (Gita 2:65)

There is a description in the Gita, that "One who has control over his inner instrument (Antahkaran), such a person is free from attachment and aversion, with senses governed by the Self, attains ultimate placidity of mind. On attaining this inner calmness, all suffering comes to an end and the intellect (buddhih) becomes very quickly and completely established in God." (Gita 2:64-65)

He who remains happy in the most unfavorable situations, he becomes established in God very soon, this calmness arising from unfavorable circumstances is the mother of equanimity. We should not desire unfavorable situations rather we should remain pleased with the situations and circumstances that we are placed in. We must look upon unfavorable incidents as a great favor, as these situations help remove our attachments to favorable circumstances or pleasurable situations.

A person striving for God Realization must transcend pleasure and pain. "Sukhdukhe same krtvaa," (Gita 2:38). Establish equanimity in pleasure and pain. Whatever one desires does not necessarily come to us, and whatever one does not desire, is not necessarily avoided. e.g misery comes without any invitation. We tend to accept these situations circumstances when they come in the form of pleasure, but our acceptance is not there at the time when they come in the form of pain / unfavorable circumstances. Situations and circumstances do not come from desiring them, rather they come only through the grace of God.

Take Refuge in the Lord and Become Fearless

There are many goats and sheeps in the forest.  While grazing one of them became immersed in the groves.  She was so engrossed in grazing that when she came out, all the other goats-sheeps had left to return home.  It was turning dark.  Roaming around and searching for the way back, she came upon the banks of a river.  At the banks she saw foot prints of a Lion.  She took shelter of the foot-prints and sat down right there.  Many other wild creatures came to the banks of the river and attempted to devour the goat,  but she said, look whose shelter I am under.  Think carefully before eating me.  The wild creatures would see the footprints of the Lion and they would immediately run away from the area, thinking that if the Lion would arrive, he would kill them !  Thus all animals would run away becoming scared, and leave her alone.  Later the Lion Himself arrived and asked the goat, how she is all alone in the forest?  The goat used her old trick.  See these foot-prints then talk further.  I have taken shelter of the owner of those foot-prints.  The Lion on carefully examining, saw that they were his own foot-prints.  The Lion realized this goat has taken shelter of him.  Realizing this he said to the goat,  now do not be scared, remain completely fearless.

At night when an elephant came to drink some water, the lion said to the elephant - "You carry this goat on your back, and you take it to the forest to graze, but remember that at all times keep her sitting on top of you. And if you don't do this, you don't really know who I am?  I will kill you !"  Hearing this the elephant began to tremble.  The elephant immediately grabbed the goat with his trunk and placed her on his back.  Now the goat became blissful, being free of all fears,  enjoying the tender leaves on tree tops in the forest.

Similarly when a man takes refuge in the Lord, and takes the support of Lord's Lotus Feet, then he becomes fearless of all beings and all impediments and obstacles.  No one is capable of causing him to become fearful, because no one can cause any harm to him.

"Jo jaako sharano gahai, baakahun taaki laaj  |
Ulate jal machali chale, bahyo jaat Gajaraaj ||

Those that have taken refuge, they are protected, just like the fish that has surrendered to the water, is even capable of going upstream, while an Elephant unable to with stand the strong currents, gets carried and dragged away by the force of the water.

However which way one establishes a relationship with Bhagwaan, whether it be out of fear, out of hatred, out of anger, out of friendship, or out of passion, etc. it will lead to his benefit.  The point is that passion, fear, hatred etc. in whatever way one gets into a relation with Bhagwaan, they will definitely be uplifted.  But those that have no relationship at all, and remain indifferent, they miss the opportunity for God Realization !

Naradji has said about many of God's devotees -

Naasti teshu jaatividhyaroopkuldhakriyaadibhedah (Naarabhaktisutra 72)
"In those devotees there is no separations in race, knowledge, lineage, wealth, actions etc. "

The point is that those who have entirely surrendered themselves to God, i.e.  those who have accepted an inner oneness, accepted devotional service of the Lord, an exclusive relation with God, and have accepted the essential nature, whatever race, knowledge and other differences that may be there, they all do not apply to these devotees.  Because without any doubt they belong to Bhagwaan only -  "Yatstadeeyaah"  (Naradbhaktisutra  73).  They do not belong to the world.  On becoming Bhagwaan's they are called by the caste-group (gotra) of Krishna (Achyuta).

Sharanagati (Taking Refuge in the Lord) - 1

By taking refuge in the Lord, everything can be attained.  (it is my humble request)

The Lord readily accepts, he who takes refuge in the Lord, even if it is merely by words, because of the Lord's boundless grace. (SS 2/10)

I am God's and all my so-called possessions are also God's.  In this manner, everything should be offered to God.  In other words, he should renounce his feeling of mineness (mamta) from these things. By doing so, the aspirant will expect nothing either from the world or from God.  Thereafter, the Lord Himself, looks after the wants (needs) of the devotee.  (SS 3/30 An Important Fact)

Real surrender is regarding the objects and possession as the Lord's.  If an aspirant surrenders these to God by regarding these as his own, the Lord reciprocates by returning these manifold times, in the same way as a seed sown turns into a rich harvest.  But still it is in a limited amount.  However, when he surrenders these to the Lord, regarding them to be the Lord's, then the Lord offers Himself to the aspirant and also becomes indebted to him.   (SS 3/30 – An Important Fact)

If an aspirant finds himself to be helpless in renouncing attachment and aversion, he should take refuge in the omnipotent Lord, Who is his utmost good-hearted friend.  Thereafter, by the Lord's grace, he overcomes attachment and aversion (Gita 7/14) and attains supreme peace (Gita 18/62)  (SS 3/34 – An Important Fact).

Along with the assumed "I-ness", the body, senses, mind, intellect, ego and all the worldly objects belong to the Lord.  Such belief is real surrender.  (SS 3/34 – An Important Fact)

When a being entirely takes the shelter of the Lord,  then the Lord with His powers can remove the aspirant's ignorance and can even make him behold the Lord (SS 4/6)

Devotion and love is automatically bestowed upon a devotee that takes refuge in the Lord.  (SS 4/11)

In all the sentiments – servant, friend, child and lover etc., the best of all sentiments is taking refuge in the Lord (SS 4/11)

When a devotee surrenders Himself at the Lotus feet of the Lord, the Lord does not even remember the devotee's past sins.  The Lord only sees to the devotee's present determinate sentiments and feelings.  (SS 4/11)

To recognize the Lord's eternal relationship itself is taking refuge in the Lord. (SS 4/11 – an Important Fact)

O'  Lord,  Let Me Never Forget You

Have enthusiasm in your mind.   Do not let your spirit and your courage down.  All will become all right when you have enthusiasm within.  It is difficult to detach from the world, but it is very easy to realize Bhagwaan (God).  We create this bondage with the world.  It is our own doing.  Bhagwaan is with us all the time.  When you say  "I Am", Bhagwaan is there 100%.  It is only the attachment to the world that prevents us from realizing this.  If this attachment is not leaving you, then pray to Bhagwaan (God) saying "You release me from this bondage".  Experience your lack of strength to become detached from the world.  Many great saints have taken the support of Bhagwaan.  Bhagwaan has many different ways of releasing you from these bondages. Therefore simply tell Him.  He will shower His grace on you.  Definitely! He will.

He is always showering His grace even on those who do not remember Him or do not listen to Him. Bhagwaan never gives up on anyone.  Simply say - "Hey Naath mein Bhooloon nahin"  "Oh Lord, Let me Never Forget You".  You have to give up the ego of your strength and your abilities.  With His grace, even the most difficult of all tasks will happen so very easily.  And His grace is showering at all times.  The fact that you are listening / reading to these messages, itself is "kripa" His grace.  He keeps showering His grace.

Even if the child is non-deserving, then too the mother takes care of him.  God is both mother and father. "Tvameva Maata cha Pita Tvameva."  It is our egoism that is the root cause of all our problems.  But God will take care of this.  You put your 100% effort and leave the rest to God.  Mother may have 10-12 children, but she is entirely 100% mother for each child.  Same with Bhagwaan, He is 100% ours.  He does not favor any one being over another.  Ramji says I do not favor.

God's divine plays (lilas) are amazing.  Bhagwaan plays with His devotees.  He gets joy in playing with them.  There are many more that know Bhagwaan as Bhagwaan nowadays.  But there are very few who will turn everything over to Bhagwaan (take complete refuge in God). Very few!  Just like mother enjoys taking care of the child, whatever the child does, including messing his clothes, she takes care of it.  Child even chews on her nipple while suckling her breast for milk, yet mother tolerates everything.  There is no one else like Bhagwaan. Only Bhagwaan is like Bhagwaan.  He takes care and provides for all beings.   Rukmaniji had tested Bhagwaan's almighty powers of being the provider of all.  She had locked up a tiny ant in a box.  On opening the box, the ant was feeding on a little piece of rice, fallen from Rukmaniji's tilak on forehead.  Bhagwaan's compassion is amazing.  Whoever depends on Bhagwaan, is never forsaken.   He provides for all the infinite beings.  Such a Bhagwaan is ours, our very own.

Surdasji was blind from birth.  He once asked God to free him.  He sat under a tree near a river, and everything was provided to him for his sustenance.  Bhagwaan does all the work.  Even today devotees in this age are taken care off with great love.  Just like Mother is joyful in doing the children's work, similarly, God is happy to do devotee's work.  There are many stories about devotees.  Nathji a devotee, one day stubbornly said to Bhagwaan -  I will not go for bikhshaa (begging for food / alms).  He simply sat in one place and starved for three days.  Suddenly a cowherd came and brought him some milk.  Bhagwaan takes care of everyone.  Such is our Bhagwaan.  Gentlemen, simply become engaged in Bhagwaan.  Only God is Mine,  No One Else Is.   "Mere Toh Giridhar Gopal,  Dusero na Koyi."

It is Only Paramatma

It is only Paramatma (God), but we see it as the World.  Instead of Paramatma we see the world.  Believing that it IS Paramatma is devoutness/theistic, and instead of Paramatma, believing it to be the world, is atheistic.  He is mine, and I am His.  Saying He is mine, He is mine..... and this turns into "I am His."  Just like while gradually walking into Gangaji, one becomes totally immersed! Similarly, as we continue to surrender, we become totally surrendered to Paramatma, and only Paramatma remains.  This is refuge in Bhagwaan.  Our own being is completely wiped out, than complete refuge takes place.  We become blissful in God's grace.  Overflowing in God's grace!  "Ye yathaa maam prapadyante,  taans tathai bhajaamyahum."  We want to be completely ready for taking refuge in Bhagwaan, than Bhagwaan showers His grace on the devotee and accepts him.  I have heard that those who take refuge in Bhagwaan, in them there is an extra-ordinary joy.  He dissolves the devotee in Himself, in an incredible way.  When Bhagwaan loves, He merges the devotee in Himself, and later separates Him.  This love is true love.  It is only thereafter that one experiences true love.

See!  First we consider ourselves as separate from Paramatma!  By seeing ourselves as separate, we surrender to Him.  After taking refuge, then we merge with Him. Thereafter, from one, Bhagwaan becomes two and loves.  That is true love.  "Bhaktrtham sweektrutam daivtam."  To distant ourselves on our own, can be binding, and the separation that takes place through Bhagwaan, is "Advaitaadi suneram", more splendid than "Advait" (non-duality).  On becoming one with the Lord (Prabhu), i.e. when the Lord has first accepted us, when the Lord separates us, then we are that One "Bhagwaan" (Lord) itself. There is no desire, want of our own, not in the least bit.  There is no endeavor/effort or holding on to anything. In that love, Bhagwaan (God) becomes the support.  The enjoyer/experiencer of that love becomes God. He then becomes delighted and filled with joy.  That blissful form of Bhagwaan, gives joy to Bhagwaan.  There is no need to take or want anything for us.  Therefore the enjoyer / experience of true love is God Himself, not Jeev (embodied soul).  Jeev is the giver, and God is the taker.  There is no end to love and God's appetite for love is never ending.  He is never satiated!  The name of this is "Bhakti-ras" the nectar of devotion, the nectar of love, the relish of love.  "Bhagat mere mukutmani, mein Bhagatan ko das"!  (Devotee is My crown's jewel.  I am the servant of My devotee).  The devotee is the one that gives relish to That embodiment of Pleasure, That ocean of nectar!  There is no one else whatsoever that is as loving to Bhagwaan, as a loving devotee! Let us take refuge in the Lotus Feet of That Prabhu (God), Who gives Himself,  He Naath!  He Naath!  Surrender yourself!  Entirely take refuge in Bhagwaan.  Bhagwaan becomes blissful! Joyful!

Gentlemen!  A glimpse of that bliss comes in chanting of Lord's name (kirtan), bhajan (devotional songs), there is an inkling of it.  There is no greater gain than that.  This is not possible to attain by our efforts, rather it is attained through God's transcendental, wonderful and unusual grace of God.  Bliss and only Bliss! (from partial discourse)

Peace on Renouncing Desires
कामनाओंके त्यागसे शान्ति

continued.....

The fondness that one has within for pleasures and hoarding,  those things that he relishes, which he does not wish to give up,  that should be renounced.   That itself is the name of renunciation.   Outward renunciation is also good, and of use.   But in reality,  the renunciation is of that fondness.  That fondness itself is the one that leads to birth and death and is the kind of thing that swirls them into grave hell.

God has asked to renounce four things -  desire for those things that are not acquired,  the attachment for those things that are acquired, craving for those things needed for one’s sustenance,  and the sense of I-ness that I am like this -  due to which one sees one’s self as superior to others.

विहाय कामान्यः सर्वान्पुमांश्चरति निःस्पृहः ।
निर्ममो निरहङ्कारः स शान्तिमधिगच्छति ॥
                                             (गीता २ । ७१)
"Vihaaya kaamaanyah sarvaanpumaascharati nispruhah |
(Gita 2/71)

The man who gives up all desires, and moves about without the sense of mine and egoism (I-ness) and shuns the thirst for necessities of life, attains tranquility.  (Gita 2/71)

Desires, cravings, attachment and egoism -  these four much be altogether renounced,  then, at present you can attain peace.  All these four are the kind to cause much disturbance and turmoil within.    Such a thing will never happen, that you don’t want to renounce these,  and you attain peace.   It is only on renouncing desires that Karmayog is perfected.   The man who attains perfection through Karmayog is called “sthithpragya” (A man of Wisdom).    Talks of renunciation of desires has been mentioned, at the beginning and end of sharing such a man’s behavior and conduct.   When these four are renounced, desires, cravings, sense of mineness and egoism -   then the One Brahma will be realized ‒‘ब्रह्मनिर्वाणमृच्छति’ (गीता २ । ७२) ।  Eshaa brahmee sthitih Paarth nainaam pryaapya vimuhyati | (Gita 2/72)
Having attained  this state, he overcomes delusion, and there is no possibility of being deluded ever again.     (Gita 2/71-72)

One never knows what subtle desires and tendencies (vaasanas) remain at the end ?  It may not be in other places, but it can stay in the body.   Therefore the more that a man is careful,  that much the better.   The body is a gross and inert thing,   therefore there should be no sense of I-ness (ahamta) and sense of mine-ness (mamta) in it.   It is due to sense of I-ness and mine-ness with it that there is desire for its sustenance.  But the body wont remain due to desiring.    People die while desiring to continue to sustain the body.  There is no gain from desiring,  and there is no loss remaining.   I have given this much thought and inquired into it.

What to do to renounce desires ?

Answer ‒ If there is a desire, a thought in your mind to do something, then do the following ‒ do Naam Japa (divine name recitation) and pray within that He Naath !  O’  Lord !  O’  Prabhu !   I am unable to leave desires and infatuation-attachment !  In this manner,  at all times keep calling out to the Lord from within with much perseverence and devotion.  The Lord is eternally compassionate;  He will shower His grace.    Put this solution to use and see for yourself,   there are many different means,  but one needs to have intense perseverence and longing within.

Narayan ! Narayan !! Narayan !!!
