There never was a relationship with the body, there isn't at present, there never will be in the future, there simply cannot be. Therefore we can have our meals (bhojan) with the means of this body, but we cannot do worship and remembrance of God (bhajan). Even serving (seva) cannot be done with the means of this body, but we can become detached from the body and serve. How can we do so? We can do so by the self, by becoming free of evils. Why can we do so? Because we are free of evils - "chetan amal sahaj such raasi" (Manas, Utter. 117/2). Even Bhajan (worship and remembrance of God) can be done by the "self". How can we do so? We can love God? Why can we love God? Because we are lovers of God. We can discuss about serving and loving with the means of the body, but we cannot actually serve and love.
We can realize the world with the body, senses, mind, intellect received from the world, but not God. God cannot be caught hold off either through the means of this body, nor with the means of the mind. If God could be grabbed hold off with the mind, then He could also be grabbed hold off with the means of a machine. Therefore if an aspirant wishes to realize God, then he will have to renounce the dependency of body-senses-mind-intellect, he will have to renounce the shelter of actions. God is not attainable by means of the inert things of this body, rather on renouncing (severing) relationship with them. By using the body-mind-senses-intellect for the welfare (service) of others, man can become a good person, but he cannot become a lover of God. Becoming a lover of God can only happen by the "self". Therefore, it is established that to attain God, to become His lover, we need neither the body, nor the senses, nor the mind, nor the intellect. The things acquired through the body cannot be gained by all, but all can realize the thing attained by the "self" (i.e. God). That which is attained by some, and not by others, it's name is not Paramatma (God). God is that which all can attain. Why can he be attained? Because, He is already attained. When besides God there is no other thing, then how can God be unattained?
